CONNECTIONS
Varese is such an easy destination to reach
- Varese is in a strategic position, a few kilometres from Milan and the international
airport of Malpensa. This is Italy’s second busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic and the headquarters of various airlines. - Varese’s province is connected by three major arterial roads. The A8, Italy’s fi rst motorway, connects Varese to Milan. The A9 motorway connects this province to Como and Switzerland, whereas the A26 motorway connects this area to Piedmont.
- Public transportation includes suburban buses, which reach any destination within
the province, and urban buses to get to major cities, such as Varese, Bust Arsizio and
Gallarate. - Thanks to the presence of two railway lines – Ferrovie Nord Milano and Ferrovie dello
Stato, which work in synergy as Trenord – visitors can reach Varese from Milan and
Piedmont by train. They can even reach Malpensa airport and go to Switzerland by
taking the Malpensa Express and TILO. - Visitors can reach the province even via the lake, thanks to the boat and ferry
transport service connecting Piedmont to towns like Laveno, Luino, and Angera on the
Lombard coast.
