Il comune di Biandronno, sito sulla sponda ovest del Lago di Varese, si divide in un'unica frazione, quella di Cassinetta; è interamente attraversato dalla pista ciclabile che percorre i contorni del lago. 

È un importante sito archeologico che ospita ritrovamenti palafitticoli di età preistorica, nonché Patrimonio dell'Umanità dell'UNESCO: da Biandronno si accede infatti velocemente al complesso dell'Isolino Virginia-Camilla-Isola di San Biagio, ricco di reperti archeologici.

Nei pressi del paese inoltre si estende il Bassopiano della Palude Brabbia e, più a  nord, il Lago di Biandronno, ormai quasi interamente prosciugato.
